Science Areas

The scientific areas identified at the May 2015 "FRIB-China Workshop on Physics of Nuclei and Hadrons" that hold great promise for future collaborations include:

Low Energy Nuclear Physics -- experimental and theoretical investigations in
  • nuclear structure physics
  • nuclear reaction physics
  • nuclear astrophysics
  • fundamental interactions
  • other related topics

Medium Energy Nuclear Physics -- theoretical investigations in the quark structure of hadrons.

At the May 2015 Workshop, we formed a number of parallel Working Groups that explored these areas in greater details. The Working Groups were:
  • Low Energy
  • Astrophysics
  • Fundamental Interactions
  • Nuclear Structure Theory
  • Facilities
  • Equation of State
  • Isotopes
  • Education

Each Working Group summarized their initial findings, as well as recommended a path forward to best realize improved collaborative research in these areas.
